The Festival of the Arts is the place to buy affordable and original works of art — great Christmas gifts — that local artists have been creating just for you!

The visual artists of Spirit of the Hills Arts Association are creating paintings, photography, stained glass and fibre work that will sell for the affordable price of only $75 dollars.

Sized 12 by 12 inches, these items make up the Square Foot Show at FOTA this October 25 and 26 in Cobourg, Northumberland County.

At the Book Fair, authors will be present to sign their books – a personal touch for everyone on your Christmas list.
Some are brand-new releases, such as Cynthia Reyes’ Twigs in my Hair and Linda Huntsell Manning’s Fearless and Determined.
From new releases to award-winners, bestsellers and books nominated for prizes — all will be on sale.
KD Miller’s book Late Breaking, is long listed for the Giller. She will lead a workshop at FOTA this year.
Acclaimed Poet Dane Swan’s books will be at FOTA October 25 and 26th. The Trillium finalist will also take part in both a poetry workshop and a panel discussion.
A special area of the book fair will feature children’s books, with prices starting at $5. (More on that soon. Stay tuned!)
You’ll also find one-of-a kind pottery, mosaics, fibre art and stained glass on sale at the Artisan’s Show, such as this mosaic above by Anja Hertle, a picassiette mosaic artist specializing in using recycled materials.
The pieces in the image above are by Lorelyn Morgan. After over 40 years of making music for a living, she now makes art out of clay and pique assiette mosaic in her Lakeport studio.
This piece above is by Beth Willoughby, who works with “fabric manipulation and embellishment with the addition of free motion embroidery, beading, and dyeing, to produce landscapes and abstract collage”.
The show and sale of these creative pieces will take place from 2 p.m. Friday October 25 and all day Saturday October 26.
Location: 240 College St (The Great Hall at St. Peter’s Church) in Cobourg.
Access to these events is FREE.
