Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor at FOTA

We’re so pleased that the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario will be at the Festival on October 25th!  Here’s the news release announcing her visit:


Spirit of the Hills Festival of the Arts to welcome the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario

Cobourg, ON. October 15, 2019.  Spirit of the Hills is pleased to welcome the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Her Honour the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell to this year’s Festival of the Arts at St Peter’s Anglican Church, 240 College Street, Cobourg on Friday October 25th. She will meet the artists, supporters of the arts in Northumberland and members of the public.

The art show, the artisans’ display and the book fair will be on Her Honour’s itinerary and she will be able to meet with some of the actors and directors behind the scenes, as they prepare for Friday night’s dramatic performances. Her Honour will then attend the official reception to celebrate Spirit of the Hills’ twentieth anniversary and speak at this event.

Spirit of the Hills Arts Association has more than 170 members and supports and encourages artists working in many diverse fields. The theme of this festival is, “sharing across the arts” and it offers an opportunity to explore the innovation and strength that sharing brings to the association. The Lieutenant Governor is well known for her interest in and support for the arts as she knows they are of great importance in building community. She looks forward to being in Cobourg again as she remembers her previous visit in 2017 with great pleasure.
