Two poems by Jessica Outram

Winter Song

 sounds of the next generation
voices and violins and winter child
songs of a thousand beautiful things
 amid this safe harbour

 underneath stars and lullabies
glorias celebrate our days of beauty
 sharing peace on strings
 and music to all

Song Tree

 my song
 starts softly
 roots and soil

 seed chords
 sprouting story
 toes stretch

 melody gliding
 crown to clouds
 notes

 falling as leaves
 rising as butterflies
 I surrender

 knees and elbows
 swing and ring
 this song heals

 shoulders as branches
 sounding the depths
 of my senses

 to realize beauty
 standing in one place
 every season
