what makes the most sense
for me to focus on today
should I smell the earth after the
much-needed rain
what about the sight of children
playing separately apart
unsure of whether they can
touch or not
should I listen for the doorbell
even though no one can visit
damned this cursed virus
robbing us of guests
I could touch the beach sand
let it drift through my fingers
warmed by the sun
but it’s fenced for safety
the vaccine is coming
we will in time be saved
find meaning in reflection
there’s small comfort in the rave
Trivial
Now when the world is mourning
too many struck by that tiny particle
Lives and more lives forever lost
or living but damaged in the heart
Perhaps any word scribblings
mean little at this Covid time
However, as was said in passing
hurt is hurt, grieving is grieving
In lieu of holding you
or offering my sanitized hand
Know your pain is shared
I give soft velvet light
As much as possible
my spirit holds you tight
Thanks for these lovely poems, Reva!
