About the Event: People migration shapes societies around the world, including here in Northumberland County. “People Migration – Looking Back, Looking Forward” will explore this theme through a moderated panel discussion. Our esteemed panellists, each with unique experiences and insights, will share their personal journeys and the impact of migration on their lives and our community.
Meet Our Panelists:
- Patricia Orantes: A former lawyer and immigration advocate, Patricia is the Executive Director of The Help Centre in Cobourg, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of immigration challenges.
- Shane Joseph: Originally from Sri Lanka, Shane is a retired business owner, author, publisher of Blue Denim Press, and a committed promoter of the arts in our county.
- Dave Mowat: A historian, musician, and the former Chief of Alderville First Nation, Dave offers a rich perspective on local history and cultural integration.
The evening will include a Q&A session, allowing you to engage directly with the panellists and delve deeper into the discussion.
