โArtโฆ good for the soul.โ

Lois Gordon, a writer/editor and novice playwright, moved to Northumberland three years ago. Wanting to become involved in the vibrant arts community of her new hometown, she volunteered with NFOTA in 2022 and joined the Steering Committee for 2024. She has also volunteered with VOS Theatre in Cobourg, getting valuable behind-the-scenes experience that she can apply to her playwriting.
Why do you believe in the Northumberland Festival of the Arts?
I love that NFOTA puts a spotlight on the talented artists, artisans, writers, dancers, poets, musicians, storytellers, etc. that we have in abundance in Northumberland.
Any passions and talents you want to share?
Playwriting is something that Iโve been exploring recently, and I would love to see one of my plays performed on-stage in Northumberland.
What are your roots or groups โ connections in the community?
I used to visit friends who lived in Cobourg, and for 25 years Iโd planned to move to beautiful Northumberland when I retired. Now that Iโm finally here, I will immerse myself in the neighbourhood and the arts community, where I expect to put down some deep roots. So far, Iโm loving living in Northumberland!
What does โartโ mean to you?
Art is oneโs creative expression. Its beauty can be found in so many forms: visual arts, writing, music, photography, performance artsโฆ and itโs something to be shared. Itโs so good for the soul!
