Thanks, NHCC – Northumberland Hispanic Culture Club

“We are an amazing and diverse artistic community, and I am proud to be part of it. I believe in the power of a warm community that leaves a positive impact on our visitors and within ourselves.”

-Emilio Ojeda, President Northumberland Hispanic Culture Club

It doesn’t matter where you live in the world, music, art and culture play an important part in enriching your life. It was no different for three Peruvians – Rosa Ortega Tyrrell, Martha Hogan and Betty Harris – back in 2011. Their vision was a series of concerts with Latin American artists, helping residents of our Canadian community discover the richness of Latin Hispanic culture. Almost 15 years on, and the Northumberland Hispanic Culture Club (NHCC) is a vibrant piece of our local art scene.

“Those who make art, they’re just brave enough to share their humanity…You can connect to that humanity and realize how you are part of something bigger than yourself.”

-Fabian Arciniegas, singer/actor/musician

And because the NHCC believe in encouraging and supporting multicultural synergy, they return as a sponsor of NFOTA in 2024. They will be sponsoring “Yo y My Shadow” created by Colombian-Canadian singer/actor/musician Fabian Arciniegas. Fabian and his piano accompanist Claire Harris combine new composers, rhythms and voices, all coming together to tell a personal, passionate, musical story.

The new show that Fabian is developing will also serve to kick off Northumberland’s  Hispanic Heritage Month in October. Thanks, NHCC!
