WHAT DOES NFOTA STAND FOR?

Besides being the acronym for Northumberland Festival of the Arts, NFOTA means even more:

N = Northumberland: one of the most scenic counties in all of Ontario; a mecca for artisans, musicians, thespians, writers, poets, painters, sculptors, vocalists, dancers, textile artists… we can’t name them all here, but you will meet a lot of them when you attend the Festival of the Arts

F = Fun, fantastic, fabulous – feedback from just a few of our fans after the last Festival

O = Opportunity. Meet artists, neighbours and friends as you visit the various venues and wide variety of events. Maybe even discover the artist within yourself and try something new!

T =  Travel – but still stay close to home. Events are held in venues across Northumberland – Port Hope, Cobourg, Alderville, Brighton, Colborne, Warkworth and more – to give you the opportunity to get out and about in our beautiful county.

A = Arts. Our raison d’etre. NFOTA is where we showcase and celebrate the creativity and talent of our many local artists in so many genres.

Put it all together and you get NFOTA – the Northumberland Festival of the Arts. What do we stand for?

We believe art should be inclusive and accessible to all, that creativity is unlimited, and that collaboration makes a community strong. We are ready to entertain you, and to give you opportunities to participate, to learn and to be inspired.
