Northumberland Art Lovers: Katie Kennedy and Abigail Miller from Northumberland County Archives and Museum

“It’s a fact that arts and culture improve health and well-being. The support of arts and culture institutions and arts festivals in the county is important to reduce social isolation and enhance well-being.”

Katie Kennedy, curator at NCAM

Today NFOTA’s Felicity Sidnell Reid interviews Katie Kennedy and Abigail Miller about the soon-to-open new facility for the Northumberland County Archives and Museum, the importance of arts and culture to our communities, and the role NCAM plays in supporting and preserving arts and culture. Katie is NCAM’s Curator, and Abigail is Archivist at NCAM.

In this series we feature interviews and discussions with Individual Artists, Leaders of Arts Groups and Organizations, Civic Leaders, and other Arts Lovers in our county.

Northumberland Festival of the Arts will take place across Northumberland County from September 16 – October 2, 2022.

“We really are a resource. We’re a support system for people who are embarking on all kinds of incredible projects. And we love being on the ground floor of those kinds of projects.”

Abigail Miller, Archivist at NCAM

“Your thoughts and dreams are just as important to represent here in the archives as any one’s on the world stage. For any struggling artist…out there, we’d love to connect. We’re interested in your story.”

Katie Kennedy

“This new facility is going to be vital for us to be able to continue our operations of collecting stories that represent the people of Northumberland.”

Abigail Miller
