Picnic Table Anthology: a call for poetry submissions

If ants are such busy workers, how come they find time to go to all the picnics?

Marie Dressler

The Peoples Republic of Poetry (PRP) calls for submissions of poems for its Picnic Table Anthology 2022.

The poems can be any subject but limited to 20 lines.

Each poem will be on a transparency and applied to the table top consisting of five planks, each one 5.25 inches wide, 71 inches long. The table top will receive two coats of clear epoxy on which the transparency will be placed. A further two coats will seal it. The poems will appear to hover a millimeter above the surface.

Please send your poems to Wally Keeler: poetician1@gmail.com

Submissions close April 30, 2022.

The Picnic Table Anthology will be unveiled in the foyer of Victoria Hall, September 17, 2022, as part of the Northumberland Festival of the Arts.

Later during the festival, the table will be mounted onto a decorated flat bed truck to deliver to Let’s Talk Books on King Street East, Cobourg. This procession will be led by Cobourg’s Poet Laureate in a convertible.

A sound system will be set up on the truck to play Poetry in Motion by Johnny Tillotson and POETS by the Tragically Hip and Poetry Rap by Jedd Bloom and Jabberwocky by Donovan.

A black car with white doors, Poetry Patrol, will follow the procession. Poets bearing Poetry Placards will accompany the procession for the two blocks from Victoria Hall to Let’s Talk Books.
